拼音：píngzè，英文：level and oblique tones），平声和仄声，泛指诗文的韵律。平仄是四声二元化的尝试。四声是古代汉语的四种声调。所谓声调，指语音的高低、升降、长短。 平仄是在四声基础上，用不完全归纳法归纳出来的，平指平直，仄指曲折。 在古代上声，去声，入声为仄，剩下了的是平声。 自元朝周德清后，平分阳阴，仄归上去。逐步形成阴平、阳平归平，上声、去声归仄，入声取消的格局。（除晋语系以外，北方话均已丢平仄。普通话自称有平仄，是错误的）
